Always wearing a smile and filled with ideas or ways to strengthen the bonds of sisterhood, Soror Darla Waymon is someone you’d definitely want to get to know. As Sisterly Relations Committee Chairman, she coordinated events where sorors spent an afternoon at scenic Jackson’s Orchard, had a pink & green paraphernalia swap night, held a group yard sale; viewed the movie “Hidden Figures” about our 3 pioneer sorors, who made a difference in early space exploration, and enjoyed a Sip ‘n Paint Party in Nashville, Tennessee.

Being married and the mother of a 6-year-old son nurtures Darla, as she faces challenges being Program Director at Magnolia Village, a seniors nursing facility. Soror Darla graduated from Western Kentucky University with a Bachelors Degree in Health Care and a Masters Degree in Health Care Administration. Her training, patience, caring, and dedication give guidance and comfort to the residents and their families.

Soror Darla is Chairman of the Technology Committee, where she acts as Webmaster for the chapter website. With her committee’s help, the Bowling Green/Warren County community learns about AKA events and programs through various social media. She was the Alpha Kappa Psi Fraternity Chapter Advisor and a Board Member of The Young Alumni Association, two local organizations.

Since her initiation into Epsilon Zeta Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. in 2012, Soror Darla Waymon has been actively engaged, which continued after she transitioned into Omicron Sigma Omega Chapter in 2014. She is Chairman of the Fundraising Committee, where she was responsible for the P & G (i.e. Pink & Green or Purple & Gold) Mardi Gras Dance, held jointly with Omega Psi Phi Fraternity for the past two years. The party is always festive.

Soror Darla unleashes her creativity when doing crafts, and loves shopping for ‘good deals’. She’s a sister to watch for what’s yet to come.
